Deep Sea Mermaid Queen by Lillyxandra Deep Sea Mermaid Queen by Lillyxandra

This walking mermaid tail has tiny sequins "scales" that hug the hips. Two layers of pin tucked chiffon and sequined watery organza frill from the knees. The skirt is also lined with a stretch spandex so that she can walk comfortably. The hip fin features "bubbles" of sparking buttons. Glittery sea kelp peaks out from the fins. A matching scale bra is framed with a resin fin collar.

OKAY THAT IS IT!!!! YOU NEED TO DESIGN MY CLOTHES~!!!!! :XD: xD I f I were rich I would hire you to do my clothes or my future wedding dress or my cosplay costumes idk one day it will happen XDDDD XD :iconfinallyplz:

This dress is stunning and beautiful and love the different shades of green and blue and I have to ask what type of frabic do you usually use??? I'm trying to make a dress but I have no clue which fabric to use =/

Start by figuring out what you want from the fabric. If you want ease of care: look for a fabric that is durable and won't shrink. This can be determined before you buy if you merely feel the fabric. For more insurance, buy slightly more than you need and wash it before you sew (even if it shrinks, your outfit will not).

If you want a stronger fabric without regard for comfort: Look under furnishing or decorative. These are tougher fabrics that are destined to be pillows, curtains, and seat covers. Most of them are course but very strong. Just be careful of the finish (some fabrics can turn out to be quite shear).

For cheaper but still good options: Look to the imposters and synthetics. For example; if you want the look of cream silk but can't spend hundreds, use low priced polyester. Synthetics tend to be made out of woven plastics or chemical processes, thickness and warmth depend on the type.

Comfortable fabrics depend on you. Just feel a sample of the fabric and you will know if you want to use it.

After that, keep in mind which colors are complementary and which finishes look good together. Avoid putting opposing shades together because they amplify each other. Also beware putting too many shiny or matte finishes together.

Good luck!!

hahaha I will definitely write all of this down XD thank you so much also how can you tell by the fabric that it won't shrink? is it because of the thickness of it? and thank you !!!! =)

The fabrics with the lowest chance of shrinking are usually "rigid". Things like denims or heavy brocades (which add weight to the garment) fall into that category. For the most part, unless you want the weight, most people just buy a little extra and pre-wash. That way it shrinks before you sew and the garment remains the right size. You can also steam the fabric for a similar effect. Most patterns have an amount that is needed for each size, so purchasing is easier with a commercial pattern. Magazines and sewing books do the same thing.
